Effective date: October 28, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Cardinal Maps and Design LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as Matt Forrest, Spatial Lab and Modern GIS (“we”, “us”, “the Company”), 8 The Green, STE A, Dover, DE 19901, matt@forrest.nyc. They govern your use of forrest.nyc, spatiallab.community, moderngis.xyz, the Spatial Lab community, the Modern GIS Accelerator, all courses, coaching, live events and any other product or content we offer (the “Services”). By creating an account, making a purchase or using the Services you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which are part of these Terms.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity under your account. One account per person; accounts and course access are not transferable or shareable. Tell us at matt@forrest.nyc if you believe your account has been compromised.
2. Products, prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars and shown before you buy. Payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers. Taxes may be added where we are required to collect them. Regional and promotional pricing applies only to the buyer and period stated and may not be resold or transferred. Installment plans are a purchase of the full price payable in the stated number of payments; if an installment fails and is not cured within 7 days after notice, we may suspend access until the balance is paid, and the full balance remains due.
3. Subscriptions, automatic renewal and cancellation
Spatial Lab and Spatial Lab Lead are subscriptions. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly, quarterly or annual, as you selected) at the then-current price for your plan, and your payment method is charged at each renewal, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account under Settings > Billing, or by emailing matt@forrest.nyc from the address on your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period and you keep access until then. Cancelling is as simple as signing up, and we will not add steps, delays or conditions.
When you subscribe we email you an acknowledgment of your plan, price, billing frequency, renewal terms and how to cancel. For quarterly and annual plans we email you before each renewal. If we change the price of your plan we will notify you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and you may cancel before the new price applies; if a price increase is charged without that notice, you may cancel within 14 days of the charge for a pro-rata refund. Any free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel first, and we will remind you before the trial ends.
4. Refunds
Spatial Lab and Spatial Lab Lead carry a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first payment. After that, cancellation stops future charges, but payments already made are not refunded. The Modern GIS Accelerator and other one-time courses may be refunded within 14 days of purchase if you have completed less than 25% of the lessons; installment plans owe the full balance after 14 days. To request a refund, email matt@forrest.nyc. Approved refunds go to the original payment method within 10 business days. We never require a review or testimonial as a condition of a refund. Full details are in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. For digital content, you agree that delivery begins as soon as you are given access, and you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once access is given. For subscriptions, you may withdraw within 14 days and pay only for the portion of the period used. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence.
5. Licence to course content
All course materials, videos, code, notebooks, datasets we provide, slides, templates, posts by us, and the design and text of the Services are owned by the Company or its licensors and protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the content for your own learning. You may use code and techniques you learn in your own work, including commercial work. You may not share your login; copy, record, download (except where a download button is provided), redistribute, resell, sublicense or publicly post course content; use content to build a competing course or product; remove notices; or scrape the Services. “Lifetime access” means for the life of the product; if we retire a product we will give at least 90 days’ notice and a way to download your materials where feasible.
6. Your content and the community
You keep ownership of what you post in Spatial Lab or submit to us. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and reproduce it within the Services and, for testimonials and project showcases you submit for that purpose, in our marketing, unless you tell us not to. You are responsible for your posts and confirm you have the right to share them, including any data or maps. Participation is also subject to the Community Guidelines posted in the community and to the community terms at spatiallab.community/terms. We may remove content, or suspend or remove a member who violates these Terms or the Guidelines; a member removed for a violation is not entitled to a refund of amounts already paid. Live sessions may be recorded and made available to members. By joining a live session you consent to being recorded; you may keep your camera and microphone off.
7. Coaching (Spatial Lab Lead)
Lead includes 1:1 coaching and a mastermind group as described on the Lead sales page. Coaching is educational guidance based on our experience. It is not employment, legal, financial or job-placement services, and we do not guarantee any job, promotion, salary or outcome. Sessions missed without 24 hours’ notice are forfeited. Unused sessions do not roll over past the paid period unless we agree otherwise in writing.
8. No guaranteed results
Our content is for educational purposes. Outcomes depend on your background, effort, market conditions and factors outside our control. Testimonials and case studies reflect individual experiences and are not a promise of what you will achieve. Where we cite salaries or market data, they are market statistics with a stated source, not predictions about you.
9. Third-party services and sponsors
The Services run on third-party platforms (including Circle, Stripe, Kit, Tally, Senja and YouTube) that have their own terms. Some content is sponsored or contains affiliate links; we label it, and our opinions remain our own. We are not responsible for third-party sites or products.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to harass, discriminate against or dox other members; post spam, malware or unlawful content; misrepresent your identity; solicit members for competing products without our permission; or interfere with the Services. We may suspend or terminate access for breach.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Services are provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, and our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Where the law does not allow these limitations, they apply to the fullest extent allowed.
12. Indemnity
You will indemnify the Company against third-party claims arising from your content or your breach of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for breach or non-payment, or if we discontinue a product (with notice and a refund of prepaid, unused periods in that case). Sections 5, 6, 8, 11, 12 and 15 survive termination.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in the community at least 14 days before they take effect; continued use after that date is acceptance. The effective date above shows the current version.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes about the Spatial Lab community and purchases made through it are resolved as set out in the community terms at spatiallab.community/terms, including their arbitration provision. Before starting any claim, you agree to email matt@forrest.nyc and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence.
